Frogs

• The South American bullfrog is about 20 cm long. It does not lay its eggs in water. It builds a nest with slime and leaves, and lays its eggs there, surrounded by foam. The metamorphosis of tadpoles into frogs takes place in the foamy nest.
• The Asian horned toad is about 10 cm long and lives in south-eastern Asia. It looks like a dry, dead leaf.
• Schreigel’s green frog, about 5 cm long, lives on flat ground all over Japan. Its eggs look like a pile of bubbles.
• hairy frog, about 10 cm long, is found in western Africa. During ate Bating season, the male develops hair-like processes (projections) an its thighs and sides. The ‘hairs’ are actually long, thin outgrowths of  skin. They help the frog breathe more oxygen when it becomes  active.
• FLying frogs :  flying frog, about 7 cm long, is a tree-frog in the rainforests of south-eastern Asia. It has eamws, webbed feet which act like little parachutes the frog jumps from the branches of trees. • The Japanese foam-nesting tree-frog is about 8 cm long and green in colour. It builds its foam nest on branches overhanging water. As the female is laying the eggs, the male uses his hind legs to beat up the egg jelly into a foam. The foam hardens to form a protective crust round the egg. When the eggs hatch, the foam softens and the tadpoles fall into the water below.
• The common edible frog is usually found in shallow waters throughout central Europe and Asia. Its hindlegs are considered a delicious.
